City of Everett—Water Main Replacement"S"
March 10,2017 Project No. 170095
borings to collect standard penetration tests(SPT)and soil samples at 2%z-foot intervals to a
minimum depth of 9 feet below the existing ground surface(bgs).
The borings will be backfilled with quick-curing ready-mix concrete and capped with black dye to
approximately the existing asphalt pavement surface.Drill cuttings will be drummed and removed
from the Site for proper disposal.
The pavement section layer(AC,RCP if present, and aggregate base)thicknesses will be measured
to the nearest'A-inch,explorations will be logged, groundwater conditions noted, and representative
soil samples collected by a member of Aspect's geotechnical staff.
Soil samples will be returned to our office for further examination, and selected samples will be
submitted for geotechnical laboratory testing to determine index and engineering properties. Tests
may include moisture content,grain size distribution,and moisture-density.
Task 4— Deliverables and Geotechnical Design
Within two weeks of completing the explorations,we will provide a package with the subsurface
data that will include:
• A Site Plan showing the exploration locations with assigned stationing; and
• Draft boring logs and a summary table of pertinent data that will include:
— Boring number, station number, GPS coordinates,AC/RCP and aggregate base
— Thicknesses,depth drilled and elevation
— Groundwater depth and elevation
— Relevant or key features(e.g. impediments)
A Draft and a Final geotechnical engineering report will be prepared containing the results of our
services, including the following information:
• A Site Plan showing the explorations locations with assigned stationing
• Exploration logs and a summary table of pertinent data
• Laboratory test results
• Groundwater considerations
• Construction considerations:
— Structural fill material and preparation
— Subgrade preparation
— Wet weather considerations
— Pipe trench excavation, stability and shoring
— Pipe zone bedding, backfill requirements and suitability of soil re-use
— Temporary erosion control
• Pavement section design and restoration
We will address any review comments or questions on the Draft and issue a Final geotechnical
engineering report, sealed by a licensed professional engineer from Aspect.
Page 3
