City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1 through December 31, 2017 <br /> Work Opportunities <br /> Employment Supports for Individuals with Disabilities <br /> EXHIBIT A: Program Summary <br /> Work Opportunities intends to provide services for City of Everett residents who have limited funding or no <br /> access to funding and are those with the most severe disabilities for whom competitive employment has not <br /> traditionally occurred or for whom competitive employment has been interrupted or intermittent as a result of a <br /> severe disability. Also, who, because of the nature and severity of their disability, need intensive supported <br /> employment services or extended services in order to perform such work. Our Career Path Services are ideal <br /> for individuals who require intensive planning and support with regard to their career path. Job Placement and <br /> Retention Services will be utilized to serve people with disabilities who are definite on their employment goals <br /> and have the desire and skills to enter the workforce. <br /> Our program services support an individual along their pathway to employment by providing a continuum of <br /> activities to help individuals identify abilities and interests, develop skills necessary for successful employment, <br /> and find and maintain employment. We also provide supported employment services, a unique approach that <br /> helps individuals with disabilities identify a career goal, find employment, and receive on the job training. Long <br /> term follow along support is crucial for successful, continued employment for individuals with the most complex <br /> support needs. Our program services provide persons with disabilities with employment and/or the tools and <br /> skills necessary to obtain and maintain employment; and by doing so, maximizing their independence and their <br /> ability to participate fully in the mainstream of community life. <br /> Work Opportunities provides a continuum of employment supports for individuals with disabilities. This <br /> pathway to employment can include the following services: <br /> Vocational Evaluation/Assessment- identifies employment skills, aptitude, interests, and strengths. <br /> Career Path Services -volunteer or paid work in the community for individuals unsure of their career path <br /> and/or still needing additional support to build their employment skills <br /> Job Placement and Retention Services- resume development, interview training, transportation training, <br /> employer consultation, placement, job coaching/training, vocational counseling and support to maintain <br /> employment and/or career advancement. <br />
