• Response to Structural Comments Permit:B1401-024 1804 Hewitt Avenue Detail 2/A1.1 addresses 1 hour fire and STC 50 requirements for the floor/ceiling assembly. We used an approximate assembly to arrive at our STC and IIC rating (attached). 6. The plans should show the locations of smoke detectors. The smoke detectors should be hard-wired, with battery back-up and interconnected within each dwelling unit. IFC Section 1103.8 Smoke detectors are noted at each room and hallway of each unit. 7. The plans should show the locations of the carbon monoxide detector within each unit. IFC Section 1103.9 Carbon monoxide detectors are noted at each room and hallway of each unit. 8. Each toilet room that does not have an operable window to the exterior should be shown with a minimum 50 cfm mechanical exhaust fan. The fan should not penetrate fire-resistive ceiling without required ceiling radiation dampers, shafts or alternate approvals. IPMC Section 403.2 Mechanical fans are noted at internal bathrooms without exterior windows. 9. Each kitchen that does not have an operable window to the exterior should be shown with a minimum 100 cfm mechanical exhaust fan. The fan should not penetrate fire-resistive ceiling without required ceiling radiation dampers, shafts or alternate approvals. IPMC Section 403.1 and 403.3 Mechanical fans are noted at internal kitchens without exterior windows. 10. Exposed stud cavities separating conditioned space from non-conditioned space should be filled with insulation. The R-value of the insulation should be shown on the plans (Minimum of R-3.0 per inch). WSEC Section C101.4.3 Insulation is called for at conditioned/non-conditioned walls, the required R- values are noted on each plan sheet in the plan notes.
