<br />The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Urban Area Security Initiative and Snohomish County Department
<br />of Emergency Management are providing funds to enhance the capability of state and local governments to
<br />make measurable progress toward the achievement of the National Preparedness Guidelines. This grant
<br />provides for the purchase of specialized equipment necessary for the response to and assistance with
<br />The Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP), created by the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act of
<br />1998, is a U. S. Department of Justice initiative designed to provide a critical resource to state and
<br />local law enforcement. Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 BVP funds became available earlier this year for
<br />purchase of compliant armored vests ordered on or after April 1, 2015. The Police Department
<br />applied for funding to cover the maximum of fifty percent of the cost of 119 vests. The total cost of
<br />hazardous incidents.
<br />119 vests is $97,461; therefore, the EPD applied for $48,730.50.
<br />Council approved this agreement at the April 29, 2015, Council meeting.
<br />Council authorized the Mayor to sign the application for FY 2015 BVP award funding at the May 6,
<br />2015, Council meeting.

<br />The Pierce County Sheriff Department (PCSD) was the lead law enforcement agency for the 2015 U.S. Open
<br />golf tournament held in Washington State. The PCSD requested the City of Everett Police department to
<br />assist in providing law enforcement services at the event and agreed to reimburse the city for expenses
<br />incurred. Final expenses incurred were $11,309.
