Year 10 Monitoring of the Smith Island/Union Slough Habitat Restoration Site Everett Public Works
• Aerial photo will be flown by SkyPix and cost charged to project as a direct expense.
If ICF drone is available and costs are less than SkyPix aerial for equivalent or better
quality, ICF would coordinate with EPWD regarding drone substitution.
• All vegetation transects and monitoring points will be safe to access by walking in
the site at low tide.
2. Hydrology(inundation depth, tidal exchange, development of drainage patterns)
• May&June 2017- install 5 continuously recording water level data loggers in late May
and record data for one month (June)timed coincide with the months of greatest tidal
fluctuations, and download of data twice during recording period(as per approved April
3, 2014 Revised Mitigation Plan Addendum).
• Continuous recording logger data will be interpreted along with continuous recording
data collected in previous years, prior to and after removal of the bridges.
• Interpretation of tidal channel development/drainage patterns based on 2017 aerial
photo(as per Task 1)compared to aerial photos from prior years, before and after
bridge removal and tidal channel excavation.
• August field work to ground truth tidal channel extent/drainage patterns in areas not
clearly visible on aerial photos would occur as part of the field effort under Task 1.
Deliverables:
• There is no specific deliverable for this task. The information collected and results
of the analysis will be summarized in a section the report that is the Task 5
deliverable.
Assumptions:
• All monitoring points will be safe to access by walking in the site at low tide.
• Task includes use of 5 ICF-owned HOBO U2o water level data loggers; purchase of
related installation supplies will be billed as direct project expense
• Control points used in past for survey of the gages are still intact and accessible
3. Water quality(temperature,salinity, dissolved oxygen)
• April - May and August-September 2017—2 data collection periods during high tides
in spring(high river flow conditions)and 2 data collection periods during summer high
tides(low river flow conditions)(per approved April 3, 2014 Revised Mitigation Plan
Addendum).
Deliverables:
• There is no specific deliverable for this task. The information collected and results
of the analysis will be summarized in a section the report that is the Task 5
deliverable.
'ICF Page 3
