Year io Monitoring ofthe_Smith Island/Union Slough Habitat Restoration Site I Everett Public Works <br /> This scope of work also includes the following two tasks to accomplish project management, <br /> coordination of the project team and coordination with EPWD, and to allow for the addition of <br /> currently unanticipated services under this scope of work should they be requested by EPWD: <br /> 6. Project Management and Coordination <br /> 7. Unauthorized Additional Services-if/as requested <br /> Year io Monitoring Tasks <br /> 1. Vegetation Monitoring(intertidal oligohaline vegetation species diversity and native species <br /> community development) <br /> • -June 2017(depending on time of flowering)-survey site for locations of colonization <br /> by purple loosestrife and yellow-flag iris and collect GPS points of all major areas of <br /> infestation. <br /> • July or August 2017-contract with SkyPix to fly 2017 aerial photo at lowest tide <br /> conditions in mitigation site and provide aerial photo interpretation of site conditions to <br /> determine vegetation community extent in GIS,and to provide comparison with <br /> community extent in Years 1-8. <br /> o Aerial photo will also be used to interpret development of tidal <br /> channels/drainage patterns(as per Task 2). <br /> • July or August 2017-conduct 12 field transects and 120 quadrat plots completed over <br /> maximum of 4, io-hour field days(including travel)to identify intertidal oligohaline <br /> vegetation diversity(identified to species)within each plot, percent cover of each <br /> species within each quadrat plot, GPS extent of each vegetation community extent <br /> along each transect and verification of aerial photo interpretation. <br /> • Collect site photos from each previously used photo point <br /> Deliverables: <br /> • Summary email and figure illustrating locations and extents of purple loosestrife <br /> and yellow-flag iris prepared immediately after field effort,for use by EPWD in <br /> control efforts. <br /> • The aerial photo,vegetation data collected, and results of the analysis will be <br /> summarized in a section the report that is the Task 5 deliverable. <br /> Assumptions: <br /> • As per approved April 3, 2014 Revised Mitigation Plan Addendum, monitoring of <br /> trees and shrubs along the interior of the Union Slough dike will not be conducted. <br /> • Purple loosestrife/yellow-flag iris survey will be timed to coincide with flowering to <br /> facilitate identification, and will be conducted by canoe on rising tide to facility <br /> efficient movement around the site and access to all areas of infestation. <br /> Page 2 ICF <br />
