Senior Services of Snohomish County - Housing Social Services <br /> Housing Social Services provides for a regular on-site service coordinator at federally <br /> funded, subsidized housing for senior and disabled residents. They are trained to recognize <br /> social and health needs and to help residents to obtain services quickly and effectively. This <br /> forms a link to the service network in order to prevent premature or unwarranted <br /> institutionalization. <br /> Recommended 2010 CDBG Funding $9,000.00 <br /> 14. Snohomish County — Senior Peer Counseling Program <br /> The Senior Peer Counseling Program uses trained and supervised senior volunteers to <br /> provide supportive counseling to other seniors facing difficult life challenges. These <br /> challenges include loss of loved ones and friends, health problems, retirement, relocation, <br /> loss of mobility, and other changes associated with aging. These issues often lead to <br /> depression, isolation and anxiety. <br /> Recommended 2010 CDBG Funding $6,000.00 <br /> 15. Boys and Girls Clubs of Snohomish County - Scholarships <br /> This program provides scholarships to low-income children to participate in the Everett <br /> Boy's and Girl's Clubs activities throughout the year. <br /> Recommended 2010 CDBG Fund: $10,500.00 <br /> 16. Little Red School House — Early Intervention <br /> This program provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers who are at risk of <br /> becoming developmentally delayed and of not being successful at school. Risk factors <br /> include homelessness, poverty, cultural isolation, and abuse and neglect. <br /> Recommended 2010 CDBG Fund: $9,123.00 <br /> Description of Other Projects Recommended for <br /> Community Development Block Grant and other funding sources in 2010 <br /> 1. Community Development Block Grant - Administration & Planning <br /> Administration is an important aspect of the CDBG program, making sure of the timely <br /> completion of projects and proper management of sub grantees. <br />
