Everett Parks and Recreation Parks
Park and Trail Classifications and • Universal access principles to facilitate access and
movement within parks for people of all ages and
Development Standards abilities.
Park classifications have been developed based on desired
outcomes for sustainability, recreation, wellness and equitable
distribution of recreational service to the community. The
classifications are only meant to serve as a guide to aid in
providing predictability to maintenance costs and delivery of
service. A specific park may have multiple elements and
functions, as the final outcome is dependent on a public
process.
From the Strategic Master Plan
Establish design standards and principles for each
classification of park type to force park designers to
design to these specific outcomes when parks are
updated or developed new.
All Parks should include the following basic elements:
• Everett Park sign standards for site identification,
regulatory information and to provide direction to
amenities.
• Appropriate site furnishings for the type of park.
• Consideration for incorporating public art and historic
and environmental interpretive elements into parks.
• Connection to surrounding neighborhoods by
sidewalks, bicycle lanes or off-street trails to provide
multiple ways of accessing parks.
• Incorporate new technologies into park designs to
facilitate operational efficiency and sustainability.
24 Everett Parks and Recreation
