<br /> as indicated on the Plans.
<br /> 2. All required potholing to verify locations of water service crossings and existing utilities.
<br /> The costs for pot-holing and excavation required to determine exact depths and
<br /> locations of other utilities shall be included with this Work with no direct compensation
<br /> made.
<br /> 3. Utility or light pole holding in conformance with the requirements of the applicable utility
<br /> including, if necessary, arranging for the utility to hold poles and paying the associated
<br /> fees.
<br /> 4. Trench excavation and dewatering, installation of pipe, furnishing, placing and
<br /> compacting sand backfill for pipe bedding, furnishing, placing and compacting suitable
<br /> native material for trench backfill and placing and compacting imported backfill
<br /> material. No extra payment shall be made for removing, loading, hauling, and
<br /> disposing of displaced and unsuitable material.
<br /> 5. Maintenance, restoration and/or relocation, if required, of existing culverts, storm
<br /> drainage pipe, other utilities and structures affected by construction that are to remain.
<br /> 6. Temporary and permanent thrust blocking and dead man blocks, and temporary and
<br /> permanent restraint systems.
<br /> 7. Ethafoam pads or sand backfill between water main and other pipes.
<br /> 8. Maintenance of existing water main and provisions for interim water service.
<br /> 9. Pressure and purity testing of all water mains and shall include providing temporary
<br /> blow-offs, backflow prevention, air gap apparatus, flushing, and disinfecting as
<br /> necessary for testing in accordance with 7-09.3(24) of these Special Provisions and
<br /> COE Standard Drawing No. 526.
<br /> 10. Extra depth, including excavation, backfill and compaction required to clear known
<br /> buried utilities or other known obstacles.
<br /> 11. Work required to avoid unexpected or unforeseen obstacles shall be paid for under the
<br /> Force Account item.
<br /> Bid Item 18 - Gate Valve, 4-Inch
<br /> Bid Item 19 - Gate Valve, 8-Inch
<br /> Measurement and Payment: Unit Price per Each (EA)
<br /> The unit contract price for Gate Valves, -Inch shall constitute full compensation for all
<br /> labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary and incidental to furnish and install valves
<br /> complete in place on the water main, including but not limited to, dewatering; removal and
<br /> disposal of existing curb and gutter, and sidewalk; excavation, removal, hauling, and
<br /> disposal of excavated materials; furnishing, jointing, and installing valves and valve boxes
<br /> with extensions if necessary; installing temporary concrete thrust blocks; restraint systems;
<br /> painting; flushing and disinfecting; furnishing, installing, compacting, and testing bedding
<br /> and backfill materials; constructing asphalt concrete pad around valve box if necessary;
<br /> cleanup; and any additional work, materials, and equipment required to install the valves
<br /> and assembly, except as included in other unit price bids.
<br /> Bid Item 20 - Fire Hydrant Assembly
<br /> Measurement and Payment: Unit Price per Each (EA)
<br /> The unit price per each shall be full compensation for all work to furnish and install fire
<br /> hydrant assemblies in accordance with COE Standard Drawing No. 507 including, yet not
<br /> limited to, all costs for clearing and grubbing; excavation, removal, haul and disposal of
<br /> excavated materials; furnishing, installing, testing, and disinfecting pipe, fire hydrant valves
<br /> and fittings, and appurtenances; shoring; dewatering; furnishing, installing and compacting
