Technical Information Report July 2015
Everett Self-Storage
5.1.11 Element #11 — Maintain BMPs
All temporary and permanent erosion and sediment control BMPs shall be maintained and repaired
as needed to assure continued performance of their intended function. Maintenance and repair shall
be conducted in accordance with each particular BMP specifications. Visual monitoring of the BMPs
will be conducted at least once every calendar week and within 24 hours of any rainfall event that
causes a discharge from the site. If the site becomes inactive, and is temporarily stabilized, the
inspection frequency will be reduced to once every month. BMP to be implemented to maintain
BMPs include:
• Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (BMP C160)
All temporary erosion and sediment control BMPs shall be removed within 30 days after the final site
stabilization is achieved or after the temporary BMPs are no longer needed. Trapped sediment shall
be removed or stabilized on-site. Disturbed soil resulting from removal of BMPs or vegetation shall
be permanently stabilized.
5.1.12 Element #12— Manage the Project
As noted in Element 11, all BMPs shall be inspected, maintained, and repaired as needed so that the
intended functions of all measures are accomplished. The SWPPP is required to address all
construction activities in advance, including clearing, grading, filling, excavation, and building activity.
The objectives of the SWPPP are the following:
• To implement Best Management Practices (BMPs) to minimize erosion and sediment
transport from rainfall runoff at construction-sites and to identify, reduce, eliminate, or prevent
the pollution of stormwater.
• To prevent violations of surface water quality, ground water quality, or sediment management
standards.
• To prevent adverse water quality construction impacts on receiving water beneficial uses by
controlling peak rates and volumes of stormwater runoff at the Permittee's outfalls as
warranted.
• To eliminate unpermitted processed wastewater and illicit discharges to stormwater drainage
systems and waters of the state.
The construction SWPPP shall be retained on-site or within reasonable access to the site. The
construction SWPPP shall be modified whenever there is a significant change in the design,
construction, operation, or maintenance of any BMPs. The project engineer for the construction
plans and SWPPP is Goldsmith (425) 462-1080. The contact person at Goldsmith is Scott Kim, P.E.
Any reportable incidents, changes or modifications to the plans shall be reported to the owner,
developer, engineer, and any other appropriate party's attention immediately.
Erosion and sediment control BMPs for this project have been designed based on the following
principles:
• Design the project to fit the existing topography, soils, and drainage patterns.
• Emphasize erosion control rather than sediment control.
• Minimize the extent and duration of the area exposed.
14114 Everett Storage T1R Revised 0715.doc 37
