PUSLIC WORKS
March 31, 2016
Steven Gustafson
Affordable Restoration
6416 38" PL NE
Marysville, WA 98270
Subject:Inspection,7603 Lower Ridge Road
Report of Damage
A tree fell onto the roof of the two-story structure at 7603 Lower Ridge Road in 2015 damaging(at least)the
roof and portions of the exterior wall. The tree has since been removed; however the damage to the structure
remains and worsens. There is a substantial amount of secondary damage to the interior of the structure due to
the rain water that has infiltrated the structure as a result of the roof damage and lack of a sufficient temporary
weather barrier. Water has traveled throughout much of the upper floor and most of the lower floor. Standing
water exists within the structure and most of the finishes are saturated with water or have been continuously
subjected to high levels of moisture and water vapor. Mold is pervasive throughout the structure. Many of the
building systems have been compromised as a result of the roof damage and water intrusion.
The following items have been noted as damaged within the structure however do not comprise a total list of all
damage present: it is the responsibility of the permit applicant/owner to assess the total damage.
Building Construction
Many or most of the roof trusses have been damaged. All damaged roof trusses will be required to be replaced.
Any roof trusses that show damage but remain will be required to be approved for service by an engineer
licensed by the State of Washington.
All damaged roof sheathing will be required to be replaced.
Floor sheathing (structural sub-floor) is most likely water-damaged, including within the interior and exterior
walls (under the wall plates). All floor sheathing will be required to be made available for inspection. All
damaged floor sheathing will be required to be replaced.
The ground floor of the structure is slab-on-grade. The ground floor has standing water in it. The wall plates are
most likely pressure treated, however exterior wall sheathing(if present)would not be pressure treated. Any
exterior wall sheathing will be required to be made available for inspection. All damaged wall sheathing will be
required to be replaced.
Electrical and Electrical Appliances
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-8882 //
