coating. Bare cables, chains, hooks, metal bars or narrow skids shall not be pennitted to come in contact <br /> with the lining or coating. When shipped by rail, all pipe shall be carefully loaded on properly padded <br /> ' saddles not less than 12 inches in width. Pipe sections shall be separated so that they do not bear against <br /> each other and the whole load shall be securely fastened together and to the cars to prevent movement in <br /> transit. In truck shipments, the pipe shall be supported in wide cradles of suitable padded timbers hollowed <br /> -s out on th supporting surface to fit the curvature of the pipe. All chains, cables or other equipment used for <br /> fastening the load shall be carefully padded. <br /> The Engineer will inspect the pipe and coating after delivery to the Project Site prior to installation by the <br /> Contractor. The Contractor shall allow inspection of the coating on the underside of the pipe while <br /> suspended from the sling, before the pipe is lowered into the trench. <br /> Thennoplastic powder coated pipe stored along the trench side shall be supported by padded wooden <br /> timbers placed under the pipe to hold the pipe off the ground, or by other acceptable means not damaging to <br /> the pipe and pipe coating. <br /> Repair of multi-layered polyethylene tape coating shall be in accordance with AWWA C214. <br /> S i <br /> Repair of thermoplastic powder coated pipe shall be per the manufacturers instructions. The Contractor <br /> shall submit the manufacturers recommendations for thermoplastic coating repair at least 3 Working Days <br /> prior to delivery of the pipe- <br /> 7-09.3(15) Laying of Pipe on Curves <br /> } The maximum deflection of"Mechanical-Joint"pipe and"Push-on Joint"pipe shall not exceed that called <br /> out on Standard Drawing No. 522. <br /> 7-093(15)C HDPE Pipe <br /> ( Long radius curves, either horizontal or vertical,may be laid with standard pipe. The radius of curvature <br /> shall be equal to or greater than the manufacturers printed recommended curvature. <br /> No additional payment will be made for laying pipe on curves as shown in the Plans or as required to <br /> accommodate existing utilities. <br /> 7-09.3(19)A Connections to Existing Mains <br /> Connection to the existing main shall not be allowed until after the new main has been installed, <br /> hydrostatically tested, disinfected, flushed and authorized by the Engineer. City approved double-check <br /> valve assembly required for flushing and testing shall be used by the Contractor. <br /> The City of Everett shall notify all customers affected by the shutoff necessary to connect to the existing <br /> ? main. <br /> ' The Contractor shall give the City Utilities Division at least 5 business days notice for each connection to be <br /> _ made by the City or the Contractor. The City of Everett shall thereafter determine the date and time at <br /> which the connection shall be made. City personnel shall not enter any excavation not shored in <br /> 1 conformance with the requirements of WISHA, RCW 49.17 including WAC 296-155. <br /> Connections made by City of Everett Personnel <br /> Unless otherwise noted on the plans, only City Utilities Division personnel shall make the physical <br /> connections between new and existing mains. Unless otherwise specified, the Contractor shall <br /> ' perform all the excavations and shoring required to allow City personnel to make the final connection <br /> between the existing and new mains. The new mains shall be aligned with the existing mains so the <br /> connection can be made in a straightforward manner without further alignment changes.
