Couplings shall conform to Section 9-30.2(7) of the Standard <br /> Specifications. <br /> Connections to the 6" Domestic and Fire services at Buse Lumber, 3812 281h PL NE shall be <br /> considered a "Connection to the Existing Main"and shall be connected by City of Everett Personnel. <br /> Connections made by the Contractor <br /> All connections shall be made with City of Everett Utilities Division personnel present_ <br /> The Contractor shall furnish all necessary materials for inspection by City of Everett prior to <br /> commencement of the connection. <br /> SECTION 7-09.3(20) OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS REPLACED BY THE <br /> FOLLOWING: <br /> 7-09.3(20) Detectable Marking Tape <br /> #10 copper wire shall be installed on top of all HDPE water mains including service lines. The wire shall be <br /> attached securely to the crown of the pipe and shall extend it's full length. The ends of the wire shall be <br /> exposed in valve boxes. <br /> SECTION 7-09.3 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS SUPPLEMENTED BY THE <br /> FOLLOWING: <br /> 7-09.3(21) Concrete Thrust Blocking <br /> Where concrete thrust blocking is required, the Contractor shall supply and install it at all joints and fittings, <br /> including joints or fittings installed by the City. Concrete blocking may also be used at other locations as <br /> designated by the Engineer to support or protect the pipe or fittings. Approved mechanical joint restraining <br /> devices may be substituted for concrete blocking where shown on the plans or approved by the Engineer. <br /> Unless otherwise directed by the Engineer, mechanical joist restraining devices shall be used in place of <br /> concrete blocking on all fittings at tie-in or connections to existing water mains. <br /> Concrete blocking (thrust blocks) shall be cast-in-place and have a minimum of % square foot bearing <br /> against the fitting and 2 square feet of bearing against undisturbed soil and shall be clear of joints so as to <br /> permit taking up or dismantling joint. All poured in place blocking shall have a minimum measurement of <br /> 12" between the pipe and the undisturbed bank. All blocking configurations and sizes shall be per Standard <br /> Plan Nos. 505 and 506. All blocking as shown on the standards are considered as minimum, and <br /> consideration should be given unusual circumstances and topography. <br /> All concrete blocking shall be formed and all concrete shall be commercial concrete. Blocking shall be <br /> placed between solid ground and the fitting to be anchored; the area bearing on the pipe and on the ground in <br /> each instance shall be that shown or directed by the Engineer. The blocking shall, unless otherwise shown <br /> or directed, be so placed that the pipe and fitting joints, including nuts and bolts, will be accessible for <br /> repair. <br /> 7-09.3(23) Hydrostatic Pressure"Test ' <br /> 6 1 <br /> It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to provide an approved double-check assembly for the purpose of <br /> testing and flushing.
