JUSTIFICATION: This project was bid and awarded without the intent of the need to pay Washington State Sales Tax. Upon completion of the project it was determined that Washington State Sales Tax should have been included in the award amount of the project, at the time of the award. Note: The award amount of this project was $598,750.00. Notice to Proceed on project was issued for August 8, 2016, with Physical Completion of the project concluding on March 17, 2017. The Washington State Sale Tax, (WSST) rate during this time frame was 9.2%. WSST has since increased to 9.7%, however 9.2% is being used as that was the current rate during the time the project was constructed. WSST @ the rate of 9.2%on a bid amount of$598,750.00, then comes to $55,085.00. Therefore the adjusted new Contract Price as a result of change order#1 is ($598,750.00+ $55,085.00)=$653,835.00.
