r . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. -:` 11 <br /> A RESOLUTION pertaining to the City of Everett's participation <br /> in "An Affordable Housing Demonstration Program <br /> WHEREAS, there exists a national and local crisis in the <br /> affordability of housing; and <br /> WHEREAS, homeownership provides benefits to the individual, the <br /> community, the state, and the nation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban <br /> Development, as part of the "Joint—Venture for Affordable Housing," has <br /> initiated an "Affordable Housing Demonstration Program: ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett participated in the "Affordable Housing <br /> Demonstration Program" by working with a private developer and the United <br /> States Department of Housing and Urban Development to develop Sunridge, a <br /> single family affordable housing project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban <br /> Development, as part of the "Joint—Venture for Affordable Housing," has <br /> initiated a follow—up to the "Affordable Housing Demonstration Program"; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett desires to further participate in the <br /> "Affordable Housing Demonstration Program" so as to use what was learned in <br /> the Sunridge project and expand housing opportunites in the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has held several preliminary discussions with a <br /> developer about the possibility of developing an affordable housing project <br /> in the Madison neighborhood in Everett, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire and intent of the Mayor and City Council to <br /> actively participate in and encourage the development of another "Affordable <br /> Housing Demonstration Program" (hereinafter referred to as "Project") so as <br /> to expand housing opportunities in the community; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT AS FOLLOWS: <br />
