To Lt. Hammond
FROM D• Thornberry
DATE 2/2/87
SUBJECT SECURITY RECOMMENDATIONS
CITY OF EVERETT, EVERETT WASHINGTON
To fill approximately 66 acres with 800,000 cubic yards of fill material
and construction of building approximately 1 ,300,000 sq. ft. at
West Hwy 99 and South Union Slough by Everett Development Company,
Nine - Lake Bellevue Drive, Bellevue, WA 98005.
Construction of that magnitude warrants more information to assess traffic egress
and digress , traffic control , let alone police protection being located on the
outskirts. Number one consideration is people being employed and accomodated.
However, based on the limited knowledge received, I can give the following
crime prevention (only) security recommendations. Traffic and Patrol Divisions
must also assess,
MONITORED FIRE AND INTRUSION ALARM SYSTEM: Zoned for each tenant and containing
panic sensors
PERIMETER DOORS: Double cylinder deadbolts or locking
crashbar
GLASING: The more business windows visible to
"all " parking-lots , the safer the lots
are from assaults and thefts .
LIGHTING PARKING LOT: Minimum 1-2 foot candles.
SHRUBBERY : Should be purchased so that after maturity
of shrubbery, an individual cannot be
concealed behind. In addition, shrubbery
should be maintained/pruned so that it is
trimmed to 3 feet from ground. (again so
a person cannot be concealed behind or
under shrubbery)
During final stages of completion, please contact Dick Thornberry, Crime Prevention
Officer at 259-8837 for further information.
Ih,
N
