Hydrology. Soils sampled in the wetland were moist with dark chromas, inferring the <br />presence of water at or near the surface for at least 12.5 percent of the growing season. <br />This satisfies wetland hydrology criteria. <br />Conclusion: The area that is mapped as wetland meets all three parameters for <br />classification as wetland according to the Washington State Wetlands Identification and <br />Delineation Manual, 1997 edition. <br />Vegetated Wetland B, C, and D Buffers (Upland) <br />Vegetation: Red alder (Alnus rubra, Fac) and Western red cedar (Thuja plicata, Fac) <br />dominate the overstory of the buffer. The understory is dominated by a thick stand of <br />salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis, Fac+), Himalayan blackberry (Rubus armeniacus, FacU), <br />Indian plum (Oemleria cerasiformis, FacU), red elderberry (Sambucus racemosa, FacU), false <br />lily -of -the -valley (Maianthemum dilatatum, Fac), and Pacific bleeding heart (Dicentra <br />formosa, FacU+). <br />The dominance of upland rated species does not meet the criteria for hydrophytic <br />vegetation. <br />Soils: The soils within the buffer area were dry at the time of inspection. Sampled soils were <br />dark gray (10YR 3/2) from 0 to 4 inches below the surface and dark yellowish brown (10YR <br />4/4) from 4 to 18 inches below the surface. The sampled soils had a gravelly sandy loam <br />texture. The buffer area, as mapped, does not appear to satisfy the criteria for hydric soils. <br />Hydrology. The understory is dominated by a thick stand of <br />salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis, Fac+) and skunk cabbage (Lysichiton americanum, Obl). <br />The dominance of species rated "Facultative" and wetter meets the criteria for hydrophytic <br />vegetation. <br />Soils: The soils within the wetland were ponded at the surface at the time of inspection. <br />Sampled soils were black (10YR 2/1) from 0 to 18 inches below the surface, and muck in <br />texture. The wetland area, as mapped, appears to satisfy the criteria for hydric soils. <br />Hydrology.
