Track IV. Waterfront Development <br /> The Everett Waterfront, both Bayside and Riverside, offer the City of Everett <br /> ample opportunities in several areas of economic activity to develop, expand and <br /> prosper. <br /> A. The City will work cooperatively with the Port of Everett and the Economic <br /> Development Council to market available industrial sites along the <br /> Waterfront and on Smith Island. <br /> B. With the Port of Everett and the Snohomish County Economic Development <br /> Council, the City will pursue trade opportunities more aggressively with <br /> greater participation and involvement in trade shows, trade missions and <br /> marketing. <br /> C. The City will work with the Port of Everett to further cultural, commercial <br /> recreation, restaurant and entertainment development along the Harbor - <br /> front. The City encourages the development of service and retail business in <br /> and around Everett Marina and at other Harborfront and Riverfront sites <br /> conducive to commerical activity. <br /> D. The City looks to its Riverfront as a rare opportunity to historically <br /> redevelop and introduce new and diverse uses, thus providing an interesting <br /> and inviting entryway into the City. <br /> E. The City will pursue access alternatives to Jetty Island for recreation and <br /> industrial uses. <br /> F. The City will investigate the proposals of Thoresen-Peterson Planning Group <br /> for Pacific Rim cultural exchanges displays and festival activities at the <br /> Harborfront. <br /> G. It is the City's intent to include both Waterfront and Riverfront areas in a <br /> central city redevelopment plan. Such a plan would address commercial <br /> recreation, entertainment and cultural opportunities • <br /> H. The Navy's proposals to homeport its North Pacific Battlegroup in Everett <br /> offers the enhancement and expansion of existing markets. The City will <br /> continue to work with the Navy, the community and the Port of Everett to <br /> analyze and resolve issues surrounding the homeporting proposals. <br /> I. Partnership: City, Port officials, Economic Development Council and Chamber <br /> of Commerce. <br />
