Track IV. Waterfront Development The Everett Waterfront, both Bayside and Riverside, offer the City of Everett ample opportunities in several areas of economic activity to develop, expand and prosper. A. The City will work cooperatively with the Port of Everett and the Economic Development Council to market available industrial sites along the Waterfront and on Smith Island. B. With the Port of Everett and the Snohomish County Economic Development Council, the City will pursue trade opportunities more aggressively with greater participation and involvement in trade shows, trade missions and marketing. C. The City will work with the Port of Everett to further cultural, commercial recreation, restaurant and entertainment development along the Harbor - front. The City encourages the development of service and retail business in and around Everett Marina and at other Harborfront and Riverfront sites conducive to commerical activity. D. The City looks to its Riverfront as a rare opportunity to historically redevelop and introduce new and diverse uses, thus providing an interesting and inviting entryway into the City. E. The City will pursue access alternatives to Jetty Island for recreation and industrial uses. F. The City will investigate the proposals of Thoresen-Peterson Planning Group for Pacific Rim cultural exchanges displays and festival activities at the Harborfront. G. It is the City's intent to include both Waterfront and Riverfront areas in a central city redevelopment plan. Such a plan would address commercial recreation, entertainment and cultural opportunities • H. The Navy's proposals to homeport its North Pacific Battlegroup in Everett offers the enhancement and expansion of existing markets. The City will continue to work with the Navy, the community and the Port of Everett to analyze and resolve issues surrounding the homeporting proposals. I.
