(Dinasour Salvage) Shoreline Permit.
#5-83 - Discussion/Decision
G. Ervine introduced this item and used slides to show the site and
its surrounding area . Its location is on Smith Island, west of I-5
and south of Ross Avenue and east of Highway 99 . The project
description is : (1) continue to operate a salvage recycling yard for
scrap metal , cutting and bailing the metal for shipment out by truck;
(2) construct , repair , renovate , convert and break and salvage ships ,
barges , etc . ; (3) own , buy , sell , operate , manage , load and unload
cargo equipment and vessels ; (4) construct five docks and adjacent
dolphins with minimum dredging and placement of waste material on the
western two-thirds of the site to raise the grade a maximum to two
feet. The project size is 8 acres .
G. Ervine commented that they had received a letter from the Seafirst
Mortgage Corporation (owner of Dagmars Landing) expressing concern
relative to the appearance of the salvage yard and the parking of
trucks on Ross Avenue . The letter suggested a six foot high solid
fence around the entire facility.
51
