Jesse,
Could you explain what the acronyms GWB, GCB, PWD mean. I have an idea of what GCB and PWD stand for but not
sure what your meaning of them are.
Also, do you have any photos to correlate with this report that you can send to me.
Lastly, regarding the area of diagonal cracking in the drywall near the bedroom located adjacent to the living room. Your
report seems confusing to me. You indicate the door in this area did not close, and that along with the cracks in this
area, there was some small movement at the door from the tree strike which caused the cracks and the door to be out
of plumb. You then advise there is long term settlement with previous door sticking in this same area. I am confused as
to what is causing the door in this area to stick. Is it the tree striking the home, or from long term settlement? If it is
from the tree, how would you propose to repair this?
Thanks,
Derek Reed
Farmers Insurance Company of Washington
Special Claims Representative
Claim Department
PO Box 268994
Oklahoma City, OK 73126-8994
Office (800) 435-7764 x72543
Direct(913) 227-2543
Fax (877) 217-1389
myclaim(a)farmersinsurance.com
From:Jesse Binford [mailto:jbinford@bcie.net]
Sent:Thursday, March 09, 2017 4:29 PM
To: Derek Reed <derek.reed @farmersinsurance.com>
Cc: Kevin Hackett<kevinh@psrestoration inc.com>
Subject: Gamiz Tree Strike Damage Assessment (Claim No. 3008011018) (BCIE No. 17033)
Derek,
I completed my site visit and damage assessment this morning at the Gamiz residence. As this is a small loss and the
overall damage was not significant I wanted to provide my assessment via this email in lieu of a written report so costs
are reduced.
The tree strike resulted in isolated damage to the roofing, OSB roof sheathing and the skip board sheathing, rafter ties
and the ceiling finishes over the family room. The impact occurred between the 3rd and 4th rafters north of the south
end and there was no damage to the rafters or ceiling joists. The 1x4 rafter ties damaged included a collar tie and a
vertical brace at the end of the collartie, which both are fastened to the sides of the rafter.
There was a small hole through the main floor shiplap sheathing, with no evidence of any damage to the floor
joists. There were also two diagonal GWB cracks above the west side of the master bedroom door at the north side of
the family room. The cracks were recent, but cosmetic and there was no evidence of any interior wall framing
damage. The door did not close indicating, along with the cracks, there was some small movement at the door due to
the tree strike resulting in the GWB cracks and the door out of plumb.
It should also be noted there was significant visible floor slope found within the family room indicating, along with a
matching slope at the top of the master bedroom door, there has been previous long-term and ongoing
settlement. There was evidence of pre-existing door sticking, however, the GWB cracks were recent as indicated by the
7/0
