1 RESOLUTION NO. ,_2/-; <br /> 2 <br /> 3 A RESOLUTION <br /> 4 authorizing the City of Everett, Washington to <br /> participate in the Snohomish Subregional Energy <br /> 5 Planning Policy Council <br /> 6 <br /> 7 WHEREAS, the purposes of the Northwest Power Act, among others, are to: <br /> 8 1. Encourage the conservation and efficient use of electrical energy; <br /> 9 2. Promote the development of additional sources of energy from the <br /> 10 region's abundant renewal resources; <br /> 11 3. To assure an adequate, continuous and affordable supply of electrical <br /> 12 energy for the region; <br /> 13 and <br /> 14 WHEREAS, the act provides for broad cooperative participation among <br /> 15 states, local governments, Indian tribes, and electrical utilities in the establishment <br /> 16 of regional power policies, the pursuit of cost effective conservation activities, and <br /> 17 the development of new sources of renewable energy so that they may achieve: <br /> 18 1. More efficient community-wide electrical energy usage; <br /> 19 2. A reduction in total electrical energy consumption; <br /> 20 3. A reduction in both the peak and base load demand on the Bonneville <br /> 21 Power Administration distribution system; <br /> 22 4. The addition of new sources of electrical energy supply from locally <br /> 23 available renewable sources; <br /> 24 5. Acquisition of cost effective electrical energy and conservation by the <br /> 25 BPA from local entities; and <br /> 26 6. Coordination of long-range electrical energy planning; <br /> 27 and <br /> 28 WHEREAS, the Act directs the Bonneville Power Administration to provide <br /> 29 technical and financial assistance to states, local governments, Indian tribes, and <br /> 30 electrical utilities to accomplish these purposes and carry out these activites; and <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
