C. Form Ties: Form ties for concrete exposed to view shall be that no metal shall remain ' <br /> within one inch of the surface of the wall after removal of formwork. For all other areas, <br /> use any satisfactory tie which will hold the forms securely in position. Lightweight wire ties ' <br /> are not acceptable. Form ties shall be approved by Contracting Officer. <br /> 2.02 CONCRETE <br /> A. Materials: Materials including cement, aggregates, water and admixtures shall meet the ' <br /> requirements of ASTM C94. <br /> 1. Cement: Shall be Type I. <br /> 2. Maximum Sizes of Coarse Aggregates: The nominal maximum size of the <br /> aggregates shall be not more than 1/5 of the narrowest dimension between <br /> forms, 1/3 of the depth of slabs, nor more than 3/4 of the minimum clear spacing <br /> between reinforcing bars. ' <br /> B. Quality of Concrete: Concrete shall be furnished under Option No. 2 of ASTM C94 <br /> whereby the manufacturer assumes full responsibility for the selection of the proportions <br /> for the concrete mixture. Submit statement of composition as called for in Part I (above) ' <br /> of this section. <br /> C. Air Content: Entrained air quantities shall comply with the table under Note 6 of ASTM <br /> C94. (6% +/- 1%) <br /> D. Slump: Shall not exceed 4 inches, with tolerances as specified in ASTM C94. <br /> E. Strength: Minimum twenty-eight day strength shall be 6,000 psi unless otherwise shown <br /> on drawings. <br /> F. Manufacture and Delivery: Measurement of materials, batching, mixing transporting and <br /> delivery shall be as specified in ASTM C94. Discharge concrete into forms within 1-1/2 <br /> hours after introduction of water to cement. When temperature of concrete is 85° F or <br /> above, the time between introduction of water to cement and complete discharge of <br /> concrete into forms shall not exceed 45 minutes. <br /> 2.03 EXPANSION JOINT FILLERS <br /> A. Pre-molded type -ASTM D1751. Size 1/2 inch by depth of slab. <br /> 2.04 SLEEVES FOR SLEEVED DOWEL BARS <br /> A. Shall be equal to No. 87 dowel caps made by Heckmann Building Products, Chicago, ' <br /> Illinois. <br /> 2.05 NON-SLIP FLOOR FINISH (when shown on drawings) , <br /> A. Aluminum oxide grains, size 30/70 as made by Norton Co., Worcester, Massachusetts. <br /> 2.06 CURING MATERIALS FOR SLABS , <br /> A. Burlap: Burlap is an acceptable material provided it does not come from sacks which <br /> have contained sugar. Must be kept wet for at least 14 days. , <br /> B. Sheet materials shall meet ASTM, C171. They may be: <br /> 1. 4-mil polyethylene film, or <br /> 2. Waterproof paper. ' <br /> C.
