SECTION 02626- CONCRETE WORK -SITE CONSTRUCTION <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> A. This work shall consist of constructing all types of concrete structures and flat work <br /> except as noted for Portland cement concrete pavement to the lines and grade shown on <br /> the drawings in conformance with the requirements of this specification. All building <br /> construction shall be according to Division 3. <br /> 1.02 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE <br /> A. Reinforcing Steel - Section 02628. <br /> ' 1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Standards: American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Concrete Reinforcing <br /> Steel Institute (CRSI). Contractor shall have copies of ASTM C94 and CRSI Manual of <br /> Standard Practice available for reference on the job site. <br /> B. Enforcement of Strength Requirements <br /> 1. Substitute the following paragraph 17.1 of ASTM C94 which is hereby voided. If the <br /> 28-day strength tests fail to meet the requirements of 17.5.2 of C94. Owner's <br /> Representative shall have the right to require either or both of the following: <br /> a. Additional curing. <br /> b. That core samples be taken and tested in accordance with ASTM C42 at <br /> Contractor's expense. <br /> C. If the core tests are below strength; if there is evidence of damage by <br /> freezing; or if the concrete fails in other ways to meet specifications, <br /> ' Owner's Representative shall have the right to require that the defective <br /> concrete be removed and replaced at Contractor's expense. <br /> 1.04 SUBMITTALS <br /> ' A. Submit 28-day results of three tests of material being supplied. <br /> 1. Show sizes and dimensions for fabrication and placing of reinforcing steel and <br /> ' bar supports. <br /> 2. Indicate bar schedules, stirrup spacing and diagrams of bent bars. <br /> B. In compliance with 5.3.2 of ASTM C94, furnish statement of composition of concrete mix <br /> ' and evidence that mix will meet quality specified herein. <br /> ' PART 2 - MATERIALS <br /> 2.01 FORMWORK <br /> A. General Requirements: <br /> 1. Contractor shall be responsible for design, strength and safety of formwork <br /> material. <br /> 2. Form shall be plywood or steel, as approved. <br /> 3. Form material shall be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of mortar. <br /> B. Formside Materials: <br /> 1. Where Concrete is to Have Smooth Form Finish: <br /> a. Use a form facing material which will produce a smooth, hard, uniform <br /> texture on the concrete. Do not use material with raised grain, torn <br /> surfaces, worn edges, patches, dents or other defects that will impair the <br /> ' surface of the concrete. <br /> b. Use orderly and symmetrical panel arrangement with minimum number <br /> of joints. <br /> C. Mount panels on rigid supports to minimize deflection. <br /> SPORTSMAN'S WAREHOUSE 02626- 1 <br />
