CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> 7-12 VALVES FOR WATER MAINS <br /> 7-12.2 Materials <br /> Delete the first paragraph in 7-12.2 and substitute the following 1 <br /> Provide materials meeting the requirements of the following: <br /> Gate Valves (2-inches to 12-inches) 9-30.3(1) Special Provisions <br /> Butterfly Valves 9-30.3(3) Special Provisions <br /> Valve Boxes 9-30.3(4) Special Provisions <br /> Valve Stem Extensions 9-30.3(6) Special Provisions <br /> Combination Air Release/Air Vacuum 9-30.3(7) Standard Specifications <br /> Valves <br /> End Connections 9.30.5(1) Standard Specifications <br /> 7-12.3 Construction Requirements I <br /> Supplement 7-12.3 by adding the following: <br /> Install valve box centered on the operator nut. <br /> Provide 3-inch thick x 2-feet x 2-feet HMA concrete pad around valve boxes located <br /> within gravel surface. <br /> Provide one valve stem extension, minimum 12-inch length, in accordance with COE <br /> Standard Drawing No. 505 when the top of the valve operating nut is more than three <br /> feet below finished grade. <br /> Provide equipment, labor, tools, materials and miscellaneous parts to perform <br /> 111 <br /> pavement sawing, pavement removal, excavations, shoring, traffic control and other <br /> Work required to prepare the site for City Utility Department personnel to install the <br /> City supplied tapping sleeve and valve assembly. <br /> Notify City Utility Department a minimum of five business days for each tap being <br /> made. The Utility Department will determine the date and time to make each tap. <br /> Expose the water main being hot tapped, including properly shoring the excavation in111 <br /> accordance with requirements of WISHA, RCW 49.17 including WAC 296-155. Should <br /> City personnel determine the excavation and shoring do not meet the requirements of <br /> WISHA, RCW 49.17, including WAC 296-155, City personnel will notify Contractor to <br /> make necessary modifications to bring the excavation and shoring into compliance <br /> prior to City personnel entering the trench. <br /> Once the conditions are deemed safe for City personnel to enter the trench, City will <br /> install the tapping sleeve and valve assembly and Utility Department personnel will <br /> perform the hot tapping of the existing main. Upon City Utility Department personnel <br /> completing installing and testing the tapping sleeve and valve assembly, City Utility <br /> Department personnel will connect to Contractor's installed pipe upon Contractor's <br /> successful completion and testing of Contractor installed water main. Backfill, compact, <br /> and restore the area. <br /> Where shown on the Plans, adjust existing valve boxes and covers to the grade as <br /> staked or otherwise designated by the Engineer. Using riser rings to adjust the valve <br /> box to grade is not allowed. <br /> Conduct removal operations conducted to prevent damage to the valve boxes. <br /> Replace parts or materials damaged due to the Contractor's operations at his expense. <br /> Conduct valve box adjustments so the final adjusted valve box allows full operation of <br /> the valve.
