PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Jurisdictions and agencies who are providing housing assistance to low-income
families throughout Snohomish County have joined together to propose the estab-
lishment of a comprehensive, county-wide housing information and referral system.
The proposed project will create a toll-free telephone line providing current
and accurate housing information and directing persons to agencies who assist
with:
* Locating housing opportunities available in non-concentrated areas;
* Landlord/tenant relationships;
* Home repair and rehabilitation projects;
* Emergency housing;
* Home winterization;
* Mortgage loan counseling;
* Subsidized housing.
The joint project will make the maximum use of scarce bonus funds by supplementing
the efforts of an agency within the County that is currently providing information
and referral services on a less than comprehensive basis. A number of agencies
are now providing housing information but in a manner limited by finances. These
agencies will be invited to submit proposals to implement the county-wide toll-free
system. The bonus block grant will provide for the collection of a more compre-
hensive directory of housing resources, and installation, monthly phone charges
and advertising for the county-wide service.
PROJECT SPONSORS
City of Everett
Housing Authority of the City of Everett
Housing Authority of Snohomish County
Snohomish County Block Grant Consortium, which includes:
Stanwood Mukilteo
Arlington Lynnwood
Granite Falls Edmonds
Marysville Brier
Lake Stevens Mountlake Terrace
Snohomish Darrington
Monroe Woodway
Sultan Index
Gold Bar
1
