August 23, 2017 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at <br /> 12:30 p.m., August 23, 2017, in the City Council Chambers of the <br /> William E. Moore Historic City Hall, Council President Tuohy presiding. <br /> Upon roll call, it was found that Council Members Roberts, Moore, <br /> Murphy, Franklin, and Tuohy were present. Mayor Stephanson and <br /> Council Member Stonecipher were excused. <br /> Council Member Roberts led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the August 16, 2017, City Council meeting were approved <br /> as printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephanson was excused. <br /> Fire Chief Tim Key introduced five new Everett firefighters: <br /> Brent Duckworth, Darren Evers, Jonathan Glanville, Nathan Larsen, and <br /> Ken Swinford. <br /> President Tuohy presented the new firefighters with their badges. <br /> President Tuohy announced that Action Item Number 19 had been pulled <br /> from the agenda. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Moore reported on his attendance at the retirement <br /> celebration of Mayumi Smith, Everett Community College instructor and <br /> director for the Nippon Business Institute. He stated Ms. Smith was <br /> presented with a proclamation from the Mayor. Council Member Moore <br /> also reported on his attendance at the Sunday's peace rally organized by <br /> the Snohomish County chapter of the NAACP. <br /> Council Member Franklin announced the Public Safety Subcommittee is <br /> scheduled to meet on August 30 and September 6, at 5:15 p.m. in the City <br /> Council Chambers. She also reported on her attendance last weekend at <br /> 280 <br />
