If the petition obtains sufficient verified signatures,then Council transmits the petition by ordinance to the County for inclusion on the ballot. The deadline for the County to receive the ordinance is August 1, 2017 for inclusion on the November 2017 ballot. By having the first and second readings of the transmission ordinance on July 19,2017,the Council will be able to adopt the ordinance on third reading on July 26,2017,if prior to that date,the County informs the City that the petition has sufficient verified signatures. RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): Adopt An Ordinance of the Everett City Council concerning a vote on the issue of creating districts to elect five of seven Everett City Councilmembers and requesting that the Snohomish County Auditor place this measure on the ballot of the November 2017 ballot. • 1
