1 <br /> CITY OF EVERETT PUBLIC WORKS 03 21 00 <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS REINFORCEMENT STEEL <br /> ' SECTION 03 21 00-REINFORCEMENT STEEL <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. Provide reinforcement steel and appurtenant Work, complete and in place, in accordance with <br /> the Contract Documents. <br /> ' 1.2 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Furnish submittals in accordance with the requirements of Section 01 33 00 — Submittal <br /> Procedures. <br /> B. Shop Drawings <br /> 1. Furnish shop bending diagrams,placing lists,and drawings of reinforcement steel prior to <br /> fabrication. <br /> 2. Diagrams <br /> a. The shop bending diagrams shall show the actual lengths of bars to the nearest <br /> inch, measured to the intersection of the extensions (tangents for bars of circular <br /> cross section)of the outside surface. <br /> b. Include bar placement diagrams that clearly indicate the dimensions of each bar <br /> splice. <br /> 3. Reinforcement <br /> a. Details of the concrete reinforcement steel and concrete inserts shall be submitted <br /> at the earliest possible date after receipt by the Contractor of the Notice to Proceed. <br /> b. Said details of reinforcement steel for fabrication and erection shall conform to <br /> ACI 315 - Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcement, and the indicated <br /> requirements. <br /> 4. Mechanical Couplers <br /> a. Where mechanical couplers are required or permitted to be used to splice <br /> reinforcement steel, submit the following items: <br /> 1) manufacturer's literature containing instructions and recommendations for <br /> installation for each type of coupler used; <br /> 2) certified test reports that verify the load capacity of each type and size of <br /> coupler used; and <br /> 3) Shop Drawings that show the location of each coupler with details of how <br /> they are to be installed in the formwork. <br /> 5. Welding <br /> a. If reinforcement steel is to be spliced by welding at any location, submit mill test <br /> reports containing the information necessary for determination of the carbon <br /> equivalent per AWS D1.4- Structural Steel Welding Code-Reinforcing Steel. <br /> b. Submit a written welding procedure for each type of weld for each size of bar <br /> which is to be spliced by welding;merely a statement that AWS procedures will be <br /> ' <br /> c. followed is not acceptable. <br /> If reinforcement steel is spliced by welding at any location,submit certifications of <br /> procedure qualifications for each welding procedure and certification of welder <br /> qualifications, for each welding procedure and for each welder performing on the <br /> Work. <br /> THREE LAKES VALVE BYPASS July 19, 2017 <br /> WO#UP3611 03 21 00 - 1 <br />
