The most recent State law update, Substitute <br /> House Bill 1079 in 2017,creates no-contact orders to protect victims of human trafficking and prostitution. <br /> Violation of those no-contact orders can be a gross misdemeanor punishable by a maximum penalty of 364 days <br /> in jail and a$5,000.00 fine. This proposed ordinance will permit the City to enforce these newly created no- <br /> contact orders. <br /> This proposed ordinance would amend the ordinance regarding violations of orders for protection(EMC <br /> 10.22.040) in keeping with updates to State law. <br /> RECOMIYIENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Adopt an Ordinance Relating to Enforcement of No-Contact Orders Protecting Victims of Human Trafficking <br /> and Prostitution,Amending Ordinance No. 1234-86 As Amended (EMC 10.22.040). <br /> 5 <br />
