The repairs included a structural
evaluation by an engineering group that was approved by Council on February 10, 2006 and a
construction contract approved by Council on April 14, 2006. These repairs are now substantially
complete at a cost of$162,067. The facility opened again on June 10, 2006.
With a $100,000 deductible, insurance proceeds are expected to cover$62,067. The total of$162,067
requires additional expenditure authority in the Parks Program 52 Special Projects budget.
Insurance Recovery 101 3952000000 62,067
Increase Property Taxes-Parks 101 3111010010 100,000
Increase Professional Svc Budget-Parks 101 5521000000410 14,582
Increase Swim Center Repair Budget-Parks 101 5521000000480 147,458
Decrease Property Taxes-General Fund 002 3111002000 100,000
Reduce General Fund Ending Fund Balance 009 5980000490 100,000
Department Code Rev Exp FB
GGA-12 Legal Budget Amendment-Indigent Defense 003A 66,200
GGA-12 Non Dept Budget Amendment-Indigent Defense 009A (66,200)
The City Attorney's office provides prosecution in Everett Municipal Court for violators of City ordinances. Under
current law,the City also must fund defense counsel for indigent defendants facing possible jail time. The City
contracts with the firm Ross Miller,Attorney at Law to provide these services.
Because of current and anticipated changes in Municipal court procedures and laws applicable to public
defenders, at least one additional attorney and one staff person will be needed on Ross Miller's staff. In addition,
to accommodate the additional persons and supporting equipment, additional space is needed. The increase
from the budgeted amount of$432,600 to the contract amount of$565,000 is an increase of$132,400.
This contract increase takes effect July 1, 2006 and requires a budget amendment for the last half of 2006 in the
amount of$66,200.
Increase Indigent Defense Budget 003 5250000410 66,200
Reduce General Fund Ending Fund Balance 009 5980000490 66,200
ATTACHMENT A
Tally 2006.xls 8/16/2006
