• • • 1 Sec. 203. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, 2 improve, remove, convert or demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure or cause or permit the same to 3 be in violation of this code. 4 Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon 5 conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1 ,000) or by imprisonment in jail not to 6 exceed ninety (90) days, or both fine and imprisonment. Each separate day or any portion thereof, during which any violation 7 of this Code occurs or continues, shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be 8 punishable as herein provided. The issuance or granting of a permit or approval of plans and specifications shall not be 9 deemed or construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of this Code. No permit 10 presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this Code shall be valid, except insofar as the work or use 11 which it authorized is lawful . 12 Section 2: Section 2( I ) of Ordinance No. 1610-89 which adds the 13 following to the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1988 14 Edition: 15 16 Chapter 10: Emergency Procedure. 17 City Council Action. In cases where it reasonably appears that there is immediate danger to the life or safety of any 18 person unless a dangerous building is immediately repaired, secured, vacated or demolished, the Building Official shall 19 report the facts to the City Council of the City of Everett and the City Council may cause a resolution to be passed authorizing 20 the Building Official to affect the immediate repair, securing, vacation or demolition of the dangerous building. The costs of 21 the emergency repair, securing, vacation, or demolition of such dangerous buildings shall be collected in the same manner as 22 provided in Chapter 9. 23 is hereby amended to read as follows: 24 25 Chapter 10: Emergency Procedure. 26 City Council Action: Notwithstanding any other provisions of this code, in cases where it reasonably appears that there is 27 immediate danger to the life or safety of any person or property unless a dangerous building is immediately repaired, secured, 28 vacated or demolished, the Building Official shall report the facts to the City Council of the City of Everett and the City 29 Council may cause a resolution to be passed authorizing the Building Official to affect the immediate repair, securing, 30 vacation or demolition of the dangerous building.
