• <br /> t' <br /> 1 ORDINANCE NO. /6e,.-- o <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing the Office of Neighborhoods; providing <br /> 3 for appointment and prescribing duties of a director <br /> thereof; creating the Office of Neighborhoods fund; and <br /> 4 creating the Council of Neighborhoods. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 7 Section 1 : Office Established. There is hereby established the Office <br /> 8 of Neighborhoods. The Office of Neighborhoods shall be affiliated with the <br /> 9 Mayor's Office for the purpose of providing technical and leadership <br /> 10 assistance to geographical and informational areas within the City which <br /> 11 areas meet the guidelines as established by the Director of the Office of <br /> 12 Neighborhoods. Such areas shall hereinafter be referred to as <br /> 13 "neighborhoods." <br /> 14 Section 2: Objectives. In establishing the Office of Neighborhoods, <br /> 15 the City Council , Office of the Mayor and citizens seek to achieve the <br /> 16 following: <br /> 17 A. To create a positive working relationship between the City and <br /> 18 its neighborhoods in order to assist in providing the neighborhoods with the <br /> 19 tools and resources for planning and development which reflect their <br /> 20 individual/unique needs and values; <br /> 21 B. To design neighborhood plans, regulations and programs to suit <br /> 22 the diverse character and development patterns of our City's neighborhoods <br /> 23 and to work with City departments towards an integrated planning process; <br /> 24 C. To strengthen and coordinate City departments' responses to <br /> 25 neighborhood problems and requests for help; <br /> 26 D. To foster cooperation and consensus among diverse interests <br /> 27 within neighborhoods and to encourage the constructive settlement of <br /> 28 disputes involving neighborhood groups, prospective land use applicants and <br /> 29 the City; and <br /> 30 E. To facilitate communication between neighborhoods regarding <br /> 31 common concerns. <br /> 32 <br />
