5. Temporary watering 6 . Commitment to revegetation of disturbed areas with native species and specimen quality plants where appropriate. c. Permanent Protection: Permanent protection shall include: 1 . Use of signage at trailheads to educate users about the sensitive areas 2 . Barrier vegetation to encourage foot traffic to stay on paths in sensitive areas 3 . Overall design layout 4 . Administrative controls including: information sheets to all tenants with lease agreement, site map showing native growth protection easements in recreation centers, maintenance of all trails and signage. p. Assurance Devices - Landscaped Areas 1 . Maintenance Assurance Device: The Planning/Community Development Director may require a maintenance assurance device when necessary to insure that improvements required by this agreement are properly maintained. The Planning/Community Development Director shall establish a time frame for which the maintenance assurance device shall be effective. 2. Form of Assurance Device: In each case where the City requires or allows an assurance device under this agreement, the Planning/Community Development Director shall determine the type of assurance device that will be used. 3 . Amount of Assurance Device: General - The Planning/Community Development Director shall determine the amount of the assurance device as follows: a. For a performance assurance device the amount shall be three-hundred (300) percent of the cost of the work or improvements covered by the assurance device based on estimated costs immediately following the expiration of the device. b. For a maintenance device the amount will not be less than ten (10) percent of the cost of replacing the materials covered by the assurance devices based on estimated costs on the last day covered by the device. c.
