If during design, the Design-Builder determines that performance requirements are not attainable for
any reason, the Design-Builder shall promptly notify the City of such determination. If the City agrees
with the Design-Builder's determination, the Design-Builder shall propose a Change Order in
accordance with Article 9 of the General Conditions.
Materials, equipment, and components shall be selected and installed based on the requirement for
superior workmanship, which relates to the quality of appearance for items such as, but not limited
to, alignment and plumb of installations and construction, welds, concrete finishes, grouting,
painting, and coatings (including surface preparation), and a high-quality, durable facility consistent
with expectations of a long service life and infrequent need for replacement or repair. The design
shall take into account the aesthetic nature of existing features so that the completed Project fits in
and coordinates with the overall quality and character of the existing Water Filtration Plant.
4.2 Codes,Standards,and Guidelines
Facilities shall be designed based on the most current applicable codes, and most current applicable
industry standards and guidelines as referenced in this and other sections of the Supplementary
Conditions, unless otherwise indicated.
Where codes and design criteria are subject to interpretation, Design-Builder shall select design
parameters and criteria that result in a more robust and long-lasting facility or structure. Where
codes and standards conflict, the code or standard giving the most conservative design shall govern.
Societies, industry groups, organizations, institutes, and agencies issuing these codes, standards,
and guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.
