6.3 East Clearwell Roof System Demolition Requirements
See Article 5 of the Contract for specific requirements related to obtaining Demolition Notices to
Proceed.
At the East Clearwell, Design-Builder shall:
1. Provide a detailed demolition plan for the roof showing methods to be used throughout the
demolition, and specifically addressing measures to protect adjacent and nearby structures and
identification of disposal locations. Demolition plan shall also include a schedule, identify
location(s)for demolition debris disposal, and safety measures to be employed during
demolition.
Test glue-laminated beams (existing roof supports), which may contain wood preservative such
as ACA for hazardous materials. Note that the Fixed Design-Build Price shall include disposal of
beams at an appropriately permitted site based on the assumption that they contain ACA.
Should testing reveal that the beams do not contain hazardous material, City shall issue a
deductive change order in the amount equal to the difference between hazardous material
disposal and non-hazardous demolition debris disposal.
2. Demolish the existing roof and support structures as needed to allow construction of new roof
system. All components associated with the existing roof system that are not required for the
new roof system shall be demolished, except for support columns, which the City desires to
retain to avoid potential floor damage caused by removal.
3. Demolish the existing interior washdown system and Hypalon curtain.
4. Protect the operating West Clearwell vents from dust and other demolition related contaminants.
This may include measures such as temporarily blocking a portion of selected vents or installing
temporary filter material over the vents to prevent contaminants from entering the on-line
clearwell. Submit the proposed plan to the Owner's Representative for approval.
5. Unless otherwise specified, replace all features impacted by the work with new ones of equal or
greater quality and service life expectations including but not limited to,support brackets,
conduit, piping, and connections.
6. Transport and dispose of demolition debris, including excess soil, at appropriately permitted
facility(ies). Provide the City with copies of all disposal records.
6.4 Screen House Bridge Demolition
Design-Builder shall:
1. Demolish Screen House Bridge in general conformance with conceptual design documents
transmitted with RFP (see Table 2.1).
2. Provide a plan for demolishing the Screen House Bridge addressing measures to be employed
throughout demolition, including measures for protecting adjacent structures, and above-and
below ground infrastructure, and identification of demolition debris disposal locations. Note that
large diameter pipelines that are critical to WFP operations are directly below the Screen House
Bridge, including above-ground and shallow-buried pipes.
3. Transport and dispose of Screen House Bridge demolition debris, including excess soil, at
appropriately permitted facility(ies). Provide the City with copies of all disposal records.
6.5 Disposal of Materials Containing Lead and Hazardous Materials
City of Everett September 13,2017
Water Filtration Plant Clearwell Roof Replacement DB Project Supplementary Conditions Page 22
