1
It would be helpful for further clarifies ion from your department. The reason foOe confusion on our end is the
language in the RCW which states:
RCW 69.50.357
Retail outlets—Rules. (Effective July 1, 2016.)
(4) Licensed marijuana retailers may not display any signage outside of the licensed premises, other than
two signs identifying the retail outlet by the licensee's business or trade name. Each sign must be no larger than
one thousand six hundred square inches, be permanently affixed to a building or other structure, and be posted
not less than one thousand feet from any elementary school, secondary school, or playground.
We read the RCW to mean that no signage is allowed outside (exterior to the building) of the licensed premises EXCEPT
that up to two permanent signs up to about 11 square feet each that are attached to a building or structure are
permitted. The proposed sign in question will be attached to a pole but is 74 square feet in area. Since the above RCW
was not included in this email chain, can you please confirm that the RCW was considered when it was ruled that there
are no limitations to signs not attached to the building as stated below. If the same conclusion is reached as determined
below, we will proceed with issuing the sign permit and we will not inquire with the LCB on any other future permits.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Steve Ingalsbe
Land Use Manager
City of Everett Planning Department
(425)257-7135
singalsbe @everettwa.qov
2930 Wetmore Avenue, Suite 8-A, Everett, WA 98201
From: Kelsey Heyd
Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2016 11:07 AM
To: Steve Ingalsbe
Subject: FW: Plan Check No.: S1606-002, 3015 Everett Ave
Hi Steve,
FYI.This is in regards to the proposed freestanding sign for Globodyne Industries. Based on the direction below from
LCB, they only regulate size requirements of signage attached to the building and therefore have no concerns with the
freestanding sign proposed.
At this point, I believe the proposal is ready for issuance (with redlines) since it complies with our Code requirements for
freestanding signs.
Thanks,
Kelsey
From: Johnson, Roxanne J (Dee) (LCB) [mailto:dee.johnson@Icb.wa.gov]
Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2016 9:49 AM
To: Kelsey Heyd; 'Brian Bodge'
Subject: RE: Plan Check No.: 51606-002, 3015 Everett Ave
Kelsey and Brian,
2 -.
