WASHINGTON STATE Regulations for <br /> BUILDING CODE COUNCIL Barrier-Free Facilities <br /> CHAPTER 75 <br /> (Chapter 75 is not found in the Uniform Building Code <br /> SITE DEVELOPMENT <br /> SCOPE <br /> Sr; <br /> 7501. a GENERAL. Accessible routes of travel shall connect <br /> public site entrances to rima ublic buildin entrances <br /> and accessible site facilities. <br /> Sec. 7501. b PARKING. Parkincl spaces, where providedshall <br /> meet the requirements of Sec. 7503, <br /> Sec. 7501. c WAITING AND REST AREAS PASSENGER DROP-OFF AND <br /> LOADING ZONES. Waitin and rest areas assen er dro�-off and <br /> loadin zones whereprovided, shall meet the recruirements of Sec. <br /> 7504. <br /> WALKS RAMPS CURB CUTS STAIRS. <br /> Sec. 7502. a GENERAL. Walks ramps and curb cuts within an <br /> accessible route of travel shall conform to the re irements of <br /> this section. Stairs shall not be within an accessible route of <br /> travelWhen provided as alternate means•of-access to the Primary <br /> Public l <br /> a <br /> i <br /> nEntrance stairs shall be ad acent to an accessible <br /> route of travel and shall com 1 with Sec. 3306. <br /> Sec. 7502. b DRAINAGE. The site shall be aded and drained so <br /> M to eliminate oplin of water or the accumulation of ice or <br /> water on the surface of an ou <br /> accessible rte of travel. <br /> ' Sec. 7502. c HAZARDS. Any portion of the ed a of an accessible <br /> route of travel which is more than 8 inches above rade or which <br /> abuts a hazardous area shall be provided with a protective railing <br /> with a top rail at a height of 34 inches and a mid rail at a height <br /> of 18 inches or with shoulder slopes conforming to Sec. 7502(11 <br /> Sec. 7502. d WIDTH. The width of walks and ram s shall be not <br /> less than 44 inches. A walk surface less than 60 inches in width <br /> shall have an unobstructed 13assincr and turnin s ace not less than <br /> 5 feet by 5 feet at intervals of not more than 200 feet. The <br /> clear width of curb cuts shall be not less than 36 inches <br /> exclusive of the required side slopes Proiect_ing objectsshall <br /> comply with Sec 3305(d). <br /> Sec. 7502. a SLOPE. Walks shall have a slope in the direction <br /> of travel of not more than 1 in 48 and a cross-slope of not more <br /> than 1 in 48. Should the slo a of a walk exceed 1 in 48, it shall <br /> be classified as a ramp Ramps and curb cuts shall have a slope <br /> of ot more than 1 in 12 and a cross-slo a of not more than 1 in <br /> 48.nThe sides of curb cuts shall have a slo a not more than 1 in <br /> 6 Such walks ramps and curb cuts shall not be interrupted by <br /> abrupt changes in level greater than 1/2 inch. <br /> Sec 7502 (f) LANDINGS Landings shall be provided as required <br /> by Sec. 3307(d), <br /> Sec 7502 (g) GRATES Within an accessible route of travel grates <br /> shall have o enin s no more than 1 2 inch in least clear distance <br /> between solid arts. The maximum vertical surface chin a shall be <br /> 1/8 inch. <br /> Sec. 7502. h EXPANSION AND CONSTRUCTION JOINTS. Expansion and <br /> construction ioints shall have a width of not more than 1/2 inch, <br /> shall be filled with a firm com ressible elastic material and <br /> shall be flush with the surface. <br /> Page 25 <br />
