An accessible route of <br /> travel shall be constructed ora firm stable material with a <br /> smooth slip resistant surface not interrupted by any abrupt chancre <br /> greater than 112 inch AnV abrupt chance less than 1/2 inch shall <br /> be beveled to 1 1n 4 No abrupt change in height greater than 1/Z <br /> inch is allowed without meeting ramp requirements of Sec. 3307(c) <br /> Where an accessible route or travel intersects with walks ramps <br /> landings curb cuts roadways or parkina areas, they shall blend <br /> to a common surface Curb cuts shall have a contrasting surface <br /> texture. <br /> Sec 7502 (i) SHOULDER SLOPES Where shoulder slopes abut the <br /> accessible route of travel t ev shall be at the same rade as its <br /> edges and shall have a slope downward from the edge of not more <br /> than 1 in 48 for a distance of not less than 3 feet. Where curbs <br /> 2 inch minimum walls handrails or ardrails abut the <br /> accessible route of travel shoulder slopes are not required. <br /> Sec. 7502. k HANDRAILS. Ram s which slope more than 1 in 20 <br /> shall be provided with handrails on both sides as required for <br /> stairways see Sec. 3306. exce t that intermediate handrails <br /> shall not be required Handrails shall not be required at anY <br /> point of access along the ramp nor at any curb cut. <br /> Sec 7502 (1) ILLUMINATION Illumination shall be provided along <br /> the accessible route of travel at any time the buildin is <br /> occupied, with an intensit of not less than one footcandle at <br /> grade level. <br /> Sec. 7502. m SIGNS. At eve rima ublic site entrance and <br /> at eve ma'or 'unction alon or leadin to an accessible route of <br /> travel there shall be a sign displaying the International Symbol <br /> of Access. Such sign shall indicate the direction to accessible <br /> destinations including but not limited to primary public site <br /> entrances primary public entrances and parking spaces provided <br /> as required in Sec. 7503. Si s shall be readable from but shall <br /> not obstruct the accessible route of travel. All signs required <br /> by this section shall comply with Sec. 5503. <br /> PARKING FOR DISABLED PERSONS. <br /> Sec 7503 (a) MINIMUM NUMBER In every parking lot or garage <br /> provided to serve buildings to which this chapter applies parking <br /> spaces meeting the requirements of this section shall be provided <br /> at the rate of not less than two ercent or a minimum of one <br /> whichever is greater of the total parkins capacity of 200 spaces <br /> or fewer, and one accessible parkins space for every additional <br /> 100 spaces over 200 parKing space ca acctbut not less than one <br /> such space for each accessible or adaptable dwelling unit. <br /> Sec. 7503. b LOCATION. The re ired s aces shall be located to <br /> rovide the least distance to accessible facilities served and <br /> shall abut the accessible route of travel. Where any curb occurs <br /> between the accessible route of travel and any parking space <br /> re ired b this section curb cuts shall be located to allow <br /> access to the accessible route of travel from the-parking space <br /> without enterin4 a vehicular roadway. <br /> Sec. 7503. c SIZE. Parkin s aces shall be not less than 12 feet <br /> 6 inches wide. Where two ad'acent s aces are rovided total width <br /> ma be reduced to 21 feet rovided an access aisle with a minimum <br /> width of 48 inches is located between the two spaces. Boundaries <br /> of access aisles shall be marked so that aisles will not be used <br /> as parking space. <br /> Sec. 7503. d SURFACE.
