October 11, 2017 Mike Palacios, Real property, provided an update on the structure of the contract and term of the lease. Considerable discussion ensued including whether to provide the Forest Service leases for both Agreements No. 12 and No. 4 for a five year period, subject to the City's right to terminate the leases upon 18 months' notice if the City deems it needs the space for its own use or to permit the leases to continue on a month-to-month basis while staff secures additional information. Moved by Council Member Moore, seconded by Council Member Murphy to act on reconsideration of these two leases by tabling Council's prior action on Item 10, Agreement No. 12 to the Lease Agreement with the United States Forest Service - Department of Agriculture to extend lease an additional five years, and Item 11, Agreement No. 4 to the Lease Agreement with the United States Forest Service Puget Sound Interagency Communication Center to extend lease five years, and instead, to authorize an extension of the current leases on a month-to-month basis at the current rate while staff secures additional information, including possible leases (for both Agreements No. 12 and No. 4) for a 5 year period with a rate escalation, subject to the City's right to terminate the leases upon 18 months' notice if the City deems it needs the space for its own use.
