1 G. Contract Rates - The rates specified in this section for <br /> taxicabs and for-hire vehicles shall not apply to <br /> 2 transportation of persons provided pursuant to a written <br /> contract which establishes a fare at a different rate for <br /> 3 specified transportation which has been entered into prior <br /> to the passenger's request for transportation and has been <br /> 4 approved by the City Clerk; provided, that no contract may <br /> include any provision(s) the effect of which is to directly <br /> or indirectly require exclusive use of the transportation <br /> services of the contracting taxicab or for-hire vehicle. <br /> 6 The contract shall not exceed one year. <br /> 7 <br /> be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Section 23: RATES <br /> 10 A. Except for special or contract rates and rates for special <br /> service vehicles, as provided for in this ordinance, it <br /> 11 shall be unlawful for anyone operating a taxicab licensed <br /> by the City of Everett to charge, demand or receive any <br /> 12 greater or lesser rate than the following: <br /> 13 1 . Taxicab <br /> 14 a. To be determined by the taximeter: <br /> 15 (1 ) Upon activation of the taximeter, one <br /> dollar and fifty cents; <br /> 16 <br /> (2) For each succeeding one-seventh mile or <br /> 17 fraction thereof, twenty cents; <br /> 18 (3) For each additional person for the whole <br /> journey, fifty cents; <br /> 19 <br /> (4) For each minute of waiting time or <br /> 20 fraction thereof, thirty cents. <br /> ($18.00/hr) <br /> 21 b. Waiting time shall include the time when the <br /> 22 taxicab is not in motion, beginning with the <br /> arrival at the place to which it has been <br /> 23 called, or the time consumed while standing at <br /> the directive of the passenger. No charge <br /> 24 shall be made for time lost for inefficiency of <br /> the taxicab or its operator or time consumed by <br /> 25 premature response to a call . The above <br /> charges shall be for one person. <br /> 26 <br /> c. Limitation on wait time charges - The charge <br /> 27 for waiting time on a taximeter shall not be <br /> utilized when the taxicab is traveling in <br /> 28 excess of fifteen (15) miles per hour. <br /> 29 d. The charges herein set forth shall be binding <br /> upon the owners and drivers of such taxicabs <br /> 30 and any collection of fares in excess of said <br /> rates shall be deemed to be a violation of this <br /> 31 ordinance. <br /> 32 <br /> 8 <br />
