D. Section 902 of the IFC, entitled"Definitions," is hereby amended by the addition of the <br /> following definition: <br /> FIRE FLOW. A measure of the sustained flow of available water for firefighting <br /> at a specific building or within a specific area at 20 pounds-per-square-inch <br /> residual pressure. <br /> Section 8: AMENDMENTS TO THE IFC CHAPTER 10, MEANS OF EGRESS. <br /> A. Subsection 1018.1 of the IFC, entitled"Minimum number of exits," is hereby amended <br /> by the addition of the following new subsection 1018.1.3: <br /> 1018.1.3 Basements. Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection 1018.2, every <br /> occupant in a basement shall have access to not less than two exits. <br /> Exceptions: <br /> 1. Two or more dwelling units in a basement may have access to only one <br /> exit where the total occupant load served by that exit does not exceed 10. <br /> 2. Except as provided in Table 1014.1, access to only one exit need be <br /> provided from a basement within an individual dwelling unit. <br /> 3. Basements used exclusively for the service of the building may have <br /> access to only one exit. For the purposes of this exception, storage rooms, <br /> laundry rooms, maintenance offices and similar uses shall not be <br /> considered as providing service to the building. <br /> Section 9: AMENDMENTS TO THE IFC CHAPTER 14, FIRE SAFETY DURING <br /> CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION. <br /> A. Subsection 1412.1of the IFC, entitled "When required," is hereby deleted and the <br /> following inserted in its place: <br /> 1412.1 When required. An approved water supply for fire protection shall be <br /> made available as soon as combustible material arrives on the site. <br /> Section 10: AMENDMENTS TO THE IFC CHAPTER 27,HAZARDOUS MATERIALS— <br /> GENERAL PROVISIONS. <br /> A. Subsection 2704.3.1of the IFC, entitled"System requirements," is hereby deleted and the <br /> following inserted in its place: <br /> 2704.3.1 System requirements. Exhaust ventilation systems shall comply with <br /> all of the following: <br /> 1. Installation shall be in accordance with the International Mechanical <br /> Code. <br /> 2. Mechanical ventilation shall be at a rate of not less than 1 cubic foot per <br /> minute per square foot <br /> [0.00508 m3/(s • m2)] of floor area over the storage area. <br /> 3. Systems shall operate continuously unless alternative designs are <br /> approved. <br /> 12 <br />
