Council <br /> members wished citizens and colleagues a happy New Year. <br /> Council Member Franklin stated it is an honor to be a part of the Everett <br /> City Council and thanked everyone for a warm welcome. She indicated <br /> that she is looking forward working with the community. <br /> Council Member Murphy provided a liaison report regarding the <br /> Snohomish Health District Board. He invited the public to attend an annual <br /> City Council Retreat scheduled for January 23, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to <br /> 12:00 p.m. at the Carl Gipson Senior Center. <br /> Council Member Roberts spoke about the General Government <br /> Subcommittee meeting, which took place earlier today. He stated that the <br /> subcommittee will bring forward recommendations to support the Streets <br /> Initiative soon. Council Member Roberts thanked the Mayor for his <br /> leadership with Sound Transit 3 (ST3) alignment. <br /> Council Member Tuohy reminded the public that the Public Safety <br /> Subcommittee meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday, January 13, <br /> 2016, before the regular City Council meeting. <br /> Council President Bader thanked his colleagues for the opportunity to <br /> serve as a Council President. He thanked the Mayor and the City staff for <br /> their support and expertise during his time of service as Council President. <br /> Council President Bader opened nominations for the Council President <br /> position for 2016. <br /> Moved by Council Member Tuohy, seconded by Council Member <br /> Franklin, to nominate Council Member Murphy for the Council <br /> President position for 2016. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes, except Council <br /> Member Stonecipher who was excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 2 <br />
