• <br /> 1 undulation. Undulations approximately three (3) inches in <br /> height can also be used. <br /> 2 <br /> C. Undulations should be placed approximately 600-700 feet <br /> 3 apart with minimum distance being approximately 400 feet. <br /> 4 D. Warning signs should be posted providing notice of the <br /> undulations; <br /> 5 <br /> E. Undulations should be tapered from zero elevation at the <br /> 6 gutter to the full undulation height approximately two to <br /> three feet from the gutter. Where rolled curb is used, it <br /> 7 may be necessary to place vertical posts on the sidewalk to <br /> prevent motorists from driving on it to bypass the <br /> 8 undulations. These posts should have high visibility <br /> during both day and night time conditions; <br /> 9 <br /> F. In order for a street to be eligible for consideration for <br /> 10 installation of undulations, a petition should be submitted <br /> to the City' s Traffic Engineer showing a majority <br /> 11 (preferably 65%+) of the residents along the route being in <br /> favor of the installation of the undulations; <br /> 12 <br /> G. Vehicular speeds should be greater than or equal to 10 mph <br /> 13 (85%) over the speed limit or advisory speed along routes <br /> where undulations are desired; <br /> 14 <br /> H. Volumes of vehicular traffic should be greater than 300 <br /> 15 vehicles per day but less than 3,000 vehicles per day along <br /> routes where undulations are desired; <br /> 16 <br /> I . Streets where undulations are installed should be no more <br /> 17 than two lanes wide; <br /> 18 J . Streets where undulations are installed should not be <br /> important access routes for emergency vehicles; <br /> 19 <br /> K. Grades where undulations are installed should be less than <br /> 20 five percent (5%) and not on curves; and <br /> 21 L. Streets where undulations are installed should not be major <br /> truck or transit routes. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Section 3: THIRD PARTY LIABILITY. <br /> 24 It is expressly the purpose of this ordinance to provide for and <br /> 25 promote the health, safety and welfare of the general public and not to <br /> 26 create or otherwise establish or designate any particular class or group of <br /> 27 persons who will or should be especially protected or benefited by the terms <br /> 28 of this ordinance. <br /> 29 It is the specific intent of this ordinance that no provisions nor any <br /> 30 term used in this ordinance is intended to impose any duty whatsoever upon <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 2 <br />
