1 ORDINANCE NO. /.5-6,,2—Y9 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 AN ORDINANCE providing for the submission to the qualified <br /> electors of the City of Everett, at a special election to <br /> 4 be held therein on September 20, 1988, of a proposition <br /> authorizing the City to impose an additional regular <br /> 5 property tax levy in an amount equal to twenty-five cents <br /> per thousand dollars of the assessed value of property in <br /> 6 the City each year for six consecutive years for emergency <br /> medical care and services including paramedic services and <br /> 7 providing for the annual levy and collection of taxes for <br /> such purposes, if approved. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there continues to exist a <br /> 10 critical need for emergency medical care in the City, including related <br /> 11 personnel costs, training for such personnel , and related equipment, <br /> 12 supplies, vehicles and structures needed for said services; and <br /> 13 WHEREAS, to provide such program it is deemed necessary and advisable <br /> 14 that the City impose an additional regular property tax levy in the amount <br /> 15 equal to twenty-five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of <br /> 16 property in the City each year for six consecutive years; and <br /> 17 WHEREAS, the Constitution and laws of the State of Washington require <br /> 18 that the question of whether or not the City may impose said additional <br /> 19 property tax levy for such purpose must be submitted to the qualified <br /> 20 electors of the City for their approval ; <br /> 21 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 22 SECTION 1 : As used in this ordinance, the words hereinafter defined <br /> 23 shall have the meaning set forth in this section: <br /> 24 (a) "City" means the City of Everett, Washington. <br /> 25 (b) "Legislative Authority" means the Mayor and City Council of the <br /> 26 City. <br /> 27 (c) "Emergency medical care and services" means emergency medical <br /> 28 care or emergency medical services, including related personnel costs, <br /> 29 training for such personnel , and related equipment, supplies, vehicles and <br /> 30 structures needed for the provision of emergency medical care or emergency <br /> 31 medical services including paramedic services. <br /> 32 <br />
