• <br /> 40. Natural topography means the elevation of a parcel of <br /> land prior to any human modification of the topography. <br /> 41. Nonconforming building means a building or structure <br /> which does not conform in its construction, area, yard <br /> requirements or height to the regulations of the zone in <br /> which it is located or to the requirements of the Uniform <br /> Building Code. <br /> 42. Nonconforming use means use of a building or land that <br /> does not conform to the regulations as to use for the <br /> zone in which it is situated, or to the Uniform Building <br /> Code. <br /> 43. Nursing or convalescent home means a facility or <br /> institution for the care of the aged or infirmed, or a <br /> place of rest for those suffering bodily disorders. This <br /> term does not include hospitals or facilities for the <br /> treatment of sickness or injuries, or for surgical care, <br /> or congregate care facilities. <br /> 44. Parking space means an off-street parking space, normally <br /> 10 feet by 20 feet, having access to a public street or <br /> alley, as specified in Chapter 19.40. <br /> 45. Structure means anything constructed or erected, the use <br /> of which requires location on the ground or attachment to <br /> something having location on the ground. <br /> 46. Structural alteration means any change in the supporting <br /> members of a building, such as bearing walls or <br /> partitions, columns, beams or girders, or any structural <br /> change in the roof. <br /> 47. Use means the purpose for which land or premises or a <br /> building thereon is designed, arranged, or intended, or <br /> for which it is occupied or maintained, let or leased. <br /> -12- <br />
