21. Gross floor area means the sum of the gross horizontal <br /> areas of the floors of a building or buildings, measured <br /> from exterior faces of exterior walls and from the <br /> centerline of division or party walls. <br /> 22. Gross floor area ratio means the result of dividing the <br /> gross floor area of a building by the total land area of <br /> the lot used by such building. <br /> 23. Height of building means the greatest vertical distance <br /> measured from the average level of the highest and lowest <br /> point of that portion of the building site covered by the <br /> building to the highest point of the roof, excepting <br /> chimneys and steeples. <br /> 24. Home occupation means an occupation conducted on the <br /> premises of a dwelling unit or associated structures by <br /> the occupant(s). <br /> 25. Lot means land occupied or to be occupied by a building <br /> and its accessory buildings, together with such open <br /> spaces as are required under the provisions of this <br /> chapter, and having frontage upon a street or alley. <br /> 26. Lot area means the total horizontal area within the <br /> boundary lines of a lot. <br /> 27. Lot, corner means a lot at the junction of and fronting <br /> on two or more intersecting streets. <br /> 28. Lot, interior means any lot which is not a corner lot. <br /> 29. Lot width means the horizontal distance between side lot <br /> lines measured at right angles to the lot depth at a <br /> point midway between the front and rear lot lines. <br /> 30. Nonconforming building means a building or structure <br /> which does not conform in its construction, area, yard <br /> requirements or height to the regulations of the building <br /> in which it is located or to the requirements of the <br /> Uniform Building Code. <br /> -4- <br />
