• <br /> 31. Nonconforming use means use of a building or land that <br /> does not conform to the regulations as to use for the <br /> zone in which it is situated. <br /> 32. Parking space means an off-street parking space, normally <br /> 10 feet by 20 feet, having access to a public street or <br /> alley, as specified in Sec. Chapter 19.40. <br /> 33. Structure means anything constructed or erected, the use <br /> of which requires location on the ground or attachment to <br /> something having location on the ground. <br /> 34. Structural alteration means any change in the supporting <br /> members of a building, such as bearing walls or <br /> partitions, columns, beams or girders, or any structural <br /> change in the roof. <br /> 35. Use means the purpose for which land or premises or a <br /> building thereon is designed, arranged, or intended, or <br /> for which it is occupied or maintained, let or leased. <br /> 36. Variance means a modification of the regulations of this <br /> ordinance when authorized by the Board after finding that <br /> the literal application of the provisions of this <br /> ordinance would cause undue and unnecessary hardship in <br /> view of certain facts and conditions applying to a <br /> specific parcel of property. <br /> 37. Yard means an unoccupied space open to the sky, on the <br /> same lot with a building or structure. <br /> 38. Yard, front means an open space extending across the full <br /> width of the lot, the required depth of which shall be <br /> measured horizontally from the front lot line to a line <br /> parallel thereto on the lot. <br /> 39. Yard, rear means an open space extending across the full <br /> width of the lot, the required depth of which shall be <br /> measured horizontally from the rear lot line to a line <br /> parallel thereto on the lot. <br /> -5- <br />
