• 31. Nonconforming use means use of a building or land that does not conform to the regulations as to use for the zone in which it is situated. 32. Parking space means an off-street parking space, normally 10 feet by 20 feet, having access to a public street or alley, as specified in Sec. Chapter 19.40. 33. Structure means anything constructed or erected, the use of which requires location on the ground or attachment to something having location on the ground. 34. Structural alteration means any change in the supporting members of a building, such as bearing walls or partitions, columns, beams or girders, or any structural change in the roof. 35. Use means the purpose for which land or premises or a building thereon is designed, arranged, or intended, or for which it is occupied or maintained, let or leased. 36. Variance means a modification of the regulations of this ordinance when authorized by the Board after finding that the literal application of the provisions of this ordinance would cause undue and unnecessary hardship in view of certain facts and conditions applying to a specific parcel of property. 37. Yard means an unoccupied space open to the sky, on the same lot with a building or structure. 38. Yard, front means an open space extending across the full width of the lot, the required depth of which shall be measured horizontally from the front lot line to a line parallel thereto on the lot. 39. Yard, rear means an open space extending across the full width of the lot, the required depth of which shall be measured horizontally from the rear lot line to a line parallel thereto on the lot. -5-
