� ( <br /> Kevin Oremus 2 November 12,2002 <br /> Based on[he observed conditions,we have the following recommendarions: <br /> • The exposed exterior portion of several of the glulam beams must be repaired or <br /> replaced. We recommend that this pordon of the beams be tempoiarily shored unHl they <br /> are replamd(see Figure 1). <br /> • The glulam beam at the east end of the pool building is damaged beyond�epair and <br /> must lm replaced. I�is our opinion that this beam is not spanning as origin.�lly designed, <br /> but rather is being supported intermediately by the CMU wall and the tube steel <br /> columns. These tube steel columns appear to be buckling under the weig6i of the glulam <br /> beam and exisHng roof framing. In order to relieve this weight from the tube steel <br /> columns,we recommend that temporary shoring be installed below the exisHng roof <br /> framing unHl the glulam beam is replaced(see Pigures 2,3,and 4j. The shoring shown in <br /> Figure 1 is not required for the exposed end of this beam. See Figure 5 for a key plan <br /> showing where these construcrion det�iiL otcur. <br /> • The void below the exisHng pipe column Uase plate in the south ea;t corner of the <br /> building shall be filled with non-shrink grout. <br /> • The miscellaneous cratks in the exterior CMU walls shall be fille3 with epoxy. <br /> • In our opinion, the pool building,and areas in the entrance to tbis building including the <br /> east stair case,should not be occupied until the temporary shoring is installed or the <br /> damaged freming is replaced. <br /> Attached are general structural notes,Figures 1 through 5,and calculallons for the temporary <br /> shoring for submittal to the building deparhnent.
