A facility that is altered should comply with applicable sections of requirements <br /> for new construction, unless technically infeasible, per IBC section 3411.6. <br /> ii. The cost of providing the accessible route is not required to exceed 20 percent <br /> of the costs of the alterations affecting the area of primary function. <br /> b. The access aisle of 8 feet should be marked for the full width of the required aisle <br /> in addition to an 8 foot parking space; alternatively an aisle of five feet requires an <br /> 11 foot parking space, per ICC/A117.1-2003 section 502.2. <br /> c. Door hardware from the parking area to the alley or from the parking area to the tenant <br /> area should not require tight grasping, tight pinching, or twisting of the wrist, per IBC <br /> section 1008.1.9.1. <br /> Energy <br /> 1. New exterior doors or building enclosure repairs should be shown to be fully compliant <br /> with the requirements of the energy code. <br /> Code references cited are the 2012 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2012 <br /> International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC): https://everettwa.gov/174/Construction- <br /> Codes The current IBC referenced standard for accessible design is the 2009 "Accessible and <br /> Usable Buildings and Facilities" (ICC/ANSI A117.1).
