Fire escape stairs shall extend to the ground or be provided with counterbalanced <br /> stairs reaching the ground, per IFC 1104.16.6. <br /> c. The requirements of IBC section 3406 should be shown on the drawings <br /> regarding construction materials, live load, dimensions, opening protectives, and <br /> handrails and guards per IBC sections 1012 and 1013. <br /> Occupancy <br /> 1. The occupant load calculations and occupancy types should be identified in the code <br /> analysis and shown on the plans. <br /> a. NOTE: The proposed occupancy (use) types and locations in the building shown <br /> on the plans to determine required egress are subject to review, non-conforming <br /> use determination, and additional requirements from Planning, Fire, Public Works, <br /> and TrafFic, in addition to the Building Division. <br /> b. Emergency exit signs should be identified on the drawings as being illuminated per <br /> IBC section 1011.5 or 1011.6, with 90 minutes of emergency back-up power, <br /> wherever two means of egress are required throughout the building. <br /> 2. Emergency exit signs should be located on the drawings per IFC section 1030.4 and <br /> IBC section 1011, wherever two means of egress are required throughout the <br /> building. <br /> a. UBC section 3312 (a) 1970 edition; UBC section 3313 (a) 1982 edition. <br /> 3. Raised character and braille exit signs should be shown on the drawings adjacent to <br /> each exit stairway and exit discharge. <br /> 4. Emergency lighting (wired to the building system with emergency power backup) <br /> should be shown on the drawings, per IBC section 1006.1, where two exits are <br /> required. <br /> a. UBC section 3312 (a) 1970 edition; UBC section 3313 (a) 1982 edition. <br /> 5. Doors should be shown on the plans to swing in the direction of egress, where <br /> serving a room or area containing an occupant load of 50 or more persons, per IBC <br /> section 1008.1.2. <br /> a. Existing doors in the basement to be reinstalled should be shown as new work. <br /> b.
